Why Two Identical Cold Emails Get Different Reply Rates

Jul 16, 20261 min readSOL MEDIA

Two companies, same cold email. One gets replies.

The difference isn't the message or the list.

The difference is on LinkedIn.

One company's founders have bare profiles. Photo, job title, no activity. Their emails land in the inbox and sit there.

The second company runs the same setup and targets the same kind of list. But its founders and executives post about their sector, and their profiles show the experience behind the signature. Trust starts building before the reply. Their emails get answered.

On follow-up calls, we ask decision-makers what made them reply. Many say the same thing: they searched LinkedIn first.

They look up the person who signed the email, not the company.

The email puts the message in front of the right person. The profile decides whether it gets an answer.

When replies drop, the first instinct is to review the message or the list. Few ask what the decision-maker finds when they look up the sender.
